This ongoing series examines the HR practices and metrics of Canadian organizations, specifically around turnover, recruitment, organizational design, absence, safety, and training and development.
Document Highlights
- There is no one-size-fits-all approach to workplace practices across Canadian organizations.
- In fiscal 2021, organizations had a variety of standard workweeks, and 30 per cent had different standard workweeks for different levels or types of employees.
- Many organizations offered flexible work arrangements. Where possible, organizations should consider offering flexible work arrangements to attract and retain workers.
- On average, organizations had 7.9 employees per people leader. This is a decrease from previous surveys and is more in line with best practices.
- On average, 2.8 per cent of an organization’s full-time equivalents (FTEs) were human resources (HR) personnel. On average, organizations had one HR generalist or HR business partner for every 142 FTEs.
